Acnowledgement of musical achievement.

I like to bring to your attention moments of musical achievement, and it gives me great pleasure to announce to the world the success of my husband in the woodwind class of the Oundle music festival at the weekend.

Not only did he win his class (playing harmonica), but was also invited to perform at the winners concert in the evening and was presented with a substantial trophy (pictured..the one on the right).

We marked the occasion with a chicken kebab and a cafe late, and we realised this was the first time ever I have been to watch HIM in a concert (its usually the other way round). A red letter day, watch this space...

Hey, well done! Of all the instruments the harmonica has always most mystified me (How on earth do you know which bit you're blowing through?!)
Anyone who can get the thing to reproduce a recognisable tune - let alone win a music festival on it - has my undying admiration.
Hey, Sarah - why don't we write some songs with harmonica accompaniment? Just a thought . . .

Thank you to all my fans for their encouraging comments....I feel the weight of harmonica responsibility on my shoulders.....if any one in the world wide web would like to take up the best instrument in the world then a good place to get inspired is by joining the National Harmonica League and meeting other sad people like me....the link to their site is http://harmonica.co.uk/ . Must go now and get back to my day job working in a bank. Yours in the name of all things harmonica, Shrimpo. PS - anyone watching the new Mr Bean movie will be interested to know that that playing on the sound track is the Phillip Archille - a fantastic 18 year old chromatic player who made it through to last years Young Musician of the Year. have a good day!

He's a fine man and a good friend - but I've always found him a bit too eager to blow his own harmonica ,,,,,,,,,! [He is just a little bit good, though.]

He told me about his achievement and straight away tried to play it down (there was only 2 of us being assessed - honest). He is a true gentleman and deserves the recognition - Well Done Shrimpo.

It must have been a very special moment for you. Well done to Chris. I'm very proud of my little brother...he's obviously got the backing of a good manager!!!

As your manager (brother-in-law actually) it was a great occasion and I was as nervous watching you as you were playing but a great achievment. Another string to your bow (or should it be blow!).
